Free Trade when we like it, as we like it

A clause in the $819-billion US financial stimulus package before Congress, would require all public works projects funded by the stimulus package to use only U.S.-made iron and steel. Other countries are concerned that this "Buy American" clause "takes it further than just steel and just iron products, but it could go across the board to many other products"(CBC)

Looks like the U.S. again preaches free trad ewhen it benefits the U.S., and then resorts to protectionism. The right way is to force other countries to open up their markets. The fundamental issue is that the U.S. is not wage competitive, and not ethically competitive either.
