Marriott plans to have 100 hotels in India by 2015 - Yahoo! Finance: "Marriott International Inc. plans to boost its presence in India to 100 hotels by 2015.
The hotel operator, which currently has 11 hotels in the country, said Thursday that brands including Ritz-Carlton and Fairfield by Marriott will be used.
Marriott, which has worked in India since 1999, currently has 23 hotels under construction there. India, like developing economies including China, is experiencing rapid growth that many businesses are trying to help service.
'India has the second largest hotel development pipeline in Asia and is expected to double the number of branded hotel rooms over the next three years to approximately 120,000 rooms,' President and Chief Operating Officer Arne Sorenson said in a statement.
Marriott will have 41 hotels in India by 2013, creating more than 8,000 new jobs. Recently signed management agreements for seven hotels include five Courtyard properties, a Marriott hotel and a Renaissance property."
