The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) has organized a Research and Teaching Symposium every March for the past several years. I have presented at this conference in Phoenix this year and last. I look forward to this conference as it provides great relief just as I am getting sick of the Chicago winter. I was looking forward to going to Phoenix in 2009. However I received an email today that announced the cancellation of the Symposium. Part of the email read " ISM regrets to announce that the North American Research and Teaching Symposium, scheduled for March 2009, has been canceled. This action was taken in response to the very difficult economic times. By canceling now, we avoid a very expensive penalty with the hotel. It is our intention to hold this program in 2010; we are looking at some alternatives that we think will improve attendance. We will keep you informed regarding the 2010 program."
