Flailin' Palin- One more reason our educational system needs to be overhauled

Any 'educated' person- young or old, who watched tonight's Biden-Palin debate would be dumbfounded by Palin's casual and callous disregard for the questions that were asked. She chose to answer her own questions, ignoring the questions put by the moderator. Further her answers were merely catchphrases and cute sentences, with no substance or depth.
She provided the best evidence, although just one data point, of the serious flaws of our educational system and the overall socio-cultural system. She received a degree from a College, and the people of Alaska elected her as governor. This shows the depth of the challenge facing the concerned citizens who want an educated and thoughtful populace that takes its civic responsibilities seriously.

On a different note, according to an article titled Insecure Minds Wired for Pattern-Finding "a perfectly healthy human mind can trick itself into seeing things that are not there, and new research has exposed exactly the sort of conditions under which that happens. It turns out that the less control a person feels, the more likely they are to see patterns or make connections that don't exist." The good news is there is a way to fortify oneself against this sort of hard-wired self-deception.
